Here’s another interior design board for you to be inspired by! I love the color story of this board and all the interesting details. It has all the classic rustic elements, but in a more modern interpretation.
The Colors
Okay guys, you’ve heard me say it before. I’m obsessed with a grey scale! So I had to put together an interior design board to show you how amazing they are! For this board, I only went with black, grey, and white paint options.
The Textiles
Because of the grey scale in paint, I wanted to warm up the board with some neutrals that coordinate with the greys. So I chose A taupe leather upholstery, an airy off white cotton, and an off white woven upholstery.
Finishing Touches
For this interior design board, I ended up choosing three tile options. The first is a really interesting faux wood mosaic tile. Then I went with two neutral colors a grey hex and a white subway. If you prefer an actual wood element, feel free to use the color as inspiration and make whatever adjustment you’d prefer.
Possible Designs
I’m loving the simplicity of this board! It has a straight forward color palette with clean lines. But it’s also full of character and warmth. Here are some great design options to create from this interior design board.
Interior Design Board: Kitchen
Let’s start off our kitchen design with the grey hex tile on the floors. It will give the illusion of a concrete floor with a modern touch. If you’re a fan of the industrial style, grey tile floors are a great way to get the industrial feel in your space.
Moving up from the floor, let’s decide on cabinet color. I’m kind of in love with the idea of keeping this design board more moody. An easy way to do that is selecting dark color options. So for cabinets, let’s go with our black paint sample.
Even though we want the space to be more moody, we don’t want it to be overwhelming. An easy way to balance all the dark, and also make the darker elements stand out more, is to create contrast with white walls.
Since we won’t get the chance to use our subway tile in this design, we can take inspiration from it and choose a white counter top.
Okay, here’s where we get to make a focal point with an interesting back splash in our wood mosaic tile. The black cabinets will pull out the darker veins in the faux wood, while the white walls pull out the lighter shades. So all of our design elements have been beautifully coordinated.
To finish off the design, we can add our black hardware, bar stools in one of our upholstery textiles, and off white cotton curtains or dish towels.
Interior Design Board: Bathroom
For this space, let’s start with the wood mosaic tile for the floor. It will ground the space and it’s organic feel will also add warmth.
Since we are in a bathroom, we can’t leave out the shower. Which I think would look amazing in our grey hex tiles! For smaller spaces where you don’t want to take over the room but still have an interesting focal point, a light tile is a great option.
For the walls, I want to keep it clean and light to balance the darker elements. So let’s go with white again. If you want to upgrade the design you could install the subway tile above the vanity.
Speaking of vanity, I think it would be beautiful to choose one in our grey paint sample.
Okay, I’m going to suggest a design trend I’m currently in love with….a black ceiling! Now, I realize this ins’t for everyone so go with whatever you gut is telling you. But bathrooms are a great place to get a little creative and make interesting choices.
Interior Design Board: Laundry Room
Laundry rooms definitely give off more of an industrial feel than most of the other rooms in a house. So why not go with our grey hex tile on the floor again.
For the walls, since this is a smaller space we can splurge and go with subway tile behind the washer and dryer. The other walls can be painted white to blend with the tile, or either of the other paint option would work if you want to get creative.
Since laundry rooms usually require storage options, add shelving or cabinets in the color of our faux wood mosaic.
Well, hopefully you were the smallest bit inspired by this interior design board! If you have any questions or a specific element you would like me to design a board around, I would love to hear from you!!
