Okay guys, I’m back with another interior design board! And this one is full of some great home decor inspiration, so I’m sure you’ll love it.
I wanted to keep this one really minimal, but still full of character. So I worked with some really interesting shapes, textures, and colors. And I think it turned out really well!
The Colors
The color palette for this interior design board is very neutral but has contrast for dimension. From left to right I chose a light tan, a very dark brown, a light grey, and a light greige. They all compliment each other really well but give enough variance to make the interior design board feel balanced.
Paint colors are a great way to pull out features from other elements too! I had to include the wood sample in this image because I think the paint samples really enhance the character and beauty of the wood.
The Textiles
For textiles I went really minimal and only chose this diamond pattern upholstery. It coordinates so well the the other shapes from the board and I really wanted to highlight it.
As always, you can pull other colors from the board (such as paint colors) and incorporate other textile options if needed.
Finishing Touches
For final touches, I included two tile options. The first is the black hex mosaic in the back. I love contrasting dark and light colors, so the next tile I chose was a simple white square tile.
As I already mentioned, I picked the wood sample because it worked so well with the color story of our paint samples! It also gives the board a more rustic feel, which is one of my favorite design styles.
I finished off this interior design board with a modern flecked pot and some eucalyptus stems because I can’t resist a touch of green in a design. It adds a little softness to a board heavy with hard lines.
Possible Designs
It can be tempting to fill a design board with a million options that we love. But sometimes a minimal board helps us see the finished vision even better. Here are some ideas from this interior design board that I love!
Interior Design Board: Bedroom
Starting with the floor, let’s go with the wood sample. Not everyone is a fan of wood floors in a bedroom, but I love the character they add to a space.
There are plenty of paint samples to choose from for wall color. But paint is an easy place to get a little creative. So for this room I would go with our light grey color on the walls, then use the black tile sample to inspire a feature wall behind the bed. You cold do something simple by just painting it black, or incorporate the hex pattern.
Since it’s a bedroom, let’s make some choices about the bed. Find a head board in one of our lighter paint shades. The contrast will make it stand out from the dark wall. Then let’s get a comforter similar to our diamond pattern fabric. Pull all the colors in the room together by layering pillows or throw blankets in our different paint shades.
Finish off the space with some nightstands in our greige color. You could incorporate our white tile by finding some ceramic white lamps. Add some shelving to open walls, and place a really interesting vase with our eucalyptus branches on them.
Interior Design Board: Living Room
Living rooms are another great place for comfort colors and contrast! When I put together these interior design boards, I usually try to give as many options or combinations as possible. Because I want to show the versatility of each board. But I love our wood sample so much! SO wood floor it is.
Wall color is our next decision. There are plenty of options, but I would love to see a room in our light greige color. It is a great neutral choice that adds layered character without overwhelming the space.
Next let’s use our textile because it’s AMAZING! I would love to incorporate it in some furniture. If you have a larger space, side chairs are great for adding extra seating but also having fun design elements like our patterned textile. Or floor poufs are really popular in the interior world right now, and they’re a great budget and storage friendly option.
To compliment the pattern furniture, I’d love to put an off white couch in the space. And layer with pillows in our paint colors. Adding variance in different pillow colors creates interest, draws your eye, and helps tie all the room elements together.
For the contrast that I love so much, I would include curtains in our dark brown paint sample or black from the tile. Then add an end table and arrange some eucalyptus vases around the room.
Interior Design Board: Kitchen
Even though I love our wood floor, let’s change it up a little in our kitchen. For this space let’s start dark and get lighter as we move up. So the black hex mosaic is a great choice for the floor.
Cabinets are up next. Let’s go with a colored cabinet in our greige color. It will help keep your eye moving up and contrast with the dark tile.
Because we want the cabinets to stand out but not be obnoxious, I would choose the light grey color for the walls again. Using our diamond textile for window treatments would look beautiful against those grey walls.
Our lightest element is the white square tiles. These are a beautiful classic look for a back splash. They give the room a clean look and are super budget friendly. In this interior design board, I turned the tile on its side for a diamond pattern, which is a really simple way of turning a budget friendly option into an interesting design feature.
Okay, so we’ve been making design choices that draw our eyes up, but why? To create a focal point in the room. So what are we so focused on? You didn’t think I forgot about our wood element did you? NEVER! So for this space, I would love to incorporate a large wood vent hood above the stove, over top of the white tile. If you wanted to take it a step further, you could also go with open shelving in our wood style as well!
Layer the shelving with white dishware and glasses, then add in some eucalyptus vases for pops of interest. I didn’t choose a door pull accessory for this board, but a dark brown option would stand off of our beige cabinets perfectly.
Hopefully I was able to help you visualize the many options this interior design board offers! If you’re interested in other inspiration ideas, check out these other design boards.
